Sitting is the new smoking, there's no two ways about it.
But according to a new study, even many years of sedentary behavior can potentially be reversed with two years of vigorous exercise.
Dr. Benjamin Levine, professor of exercise science at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center says:
“given the right kind and the right amount of [exercise] training, you can prevent the effects of extreme sedentary behavior.” Read more about dr. Levine's experiment here.
Dr. Levine's research shows that it's never too late to commit to a healthier way of life - but there's no reason to sit and wait for doctor's orders. Benefits of exercise accumulate over time, he says, and we couldn't agree more!
