Fire services warn that skin creams containing paraffin - used for conditions like eczema and psoriasis - may be linked to hundreds of fire deaths.
Paraffin residue can soak into fabrics such as clothing or bedding and act as an accelerant when it comes into contact with a flame from a heater or a cigarette.
Despite the risk, many paraffin creams' labels still don't include warnings about the threat.
